for the first time in my life..

I slept through a match.

I know. Shocking. I still can't understand how this happened.

You see i was pulling an all-nighter with my cardiorespiratory lectures.. and fell asleep somewhere between 1pm n' 2pm.. Not the whole cozy 'lemme go sleep'.. i just.. literally 'fell' asleep.

Woke up to an LFC notification on my phone.. saying;
fulham 0 - 0 liverpool FULL TIME.
and countless other texts from united fans - but thats a given, sad pathetic ppl.

just saw man citys score so.. G'bye Champions League.. it was nice knowing you.. Thanks for all the amazing memories.. Hope we meet again x

I've a mountain of lectures to go through, an empty stomach, thoughts of Gerrard n' Torres wanting to leave plague-ing my head and clouding my judgment, just found out Torres has some next knee problem aaaand im contemplating dropping out of med school.

New kit.. Benfica Who?

Ok so the new Liverpool Fc home kit has just been released on the lfc website.. for the '10/'11 season.. its different for a lot of reasons.. one of the main points being the no 'carlsberg' emblazened across the shirt.. bye bye alcoholic beverage hellooooo bankinggg..

more professional that way.. but the kit design itself is butteerrzzz.. its a diamondy shaped fabric.. reminds me of the 'candy' days.. very retro look.. maybe will act as inspiration?

dunno.. my only concern is that the shirt looks PROPER tight.. bloody lycra..

MORE IMPORTANTLY..

Liverpooooooooools qualified to Europa league semi finals! wahay.! one HELL of a game.. i mean the atmosphere was invincible.. i was sitting at home.. a country away from anfeild yet felt the spirit in that match, even singing along to the kop at times.. and the goals n chances were nothing short of magical.. i mean LUCAS scored a goal.. if thats not magic.. dunno what is..

We managed to bash benfica 4-1, with an opener from kuyt, and gerrard set up lucas for the 2nd goal, then our amazinggggggggggggggg TORRESSSSS done the rest.. aaaaaaaaaah..

oh and the one dodgy goal from benfica was a free kick.. go figure..

Atletico Madrid.. should be arrite..

woweee its been one hell of a week..

after that massive high of the sunderland match came our 1st leg match against benfica in the 'prestigious' europa league.. i remember being on such a high cuz united had lost their champions league match two days before.. and i may have been gloating here n there so NEEDED to win this match..

anyyyhooow.. the match started off beautifully with an Agger backheel effort which paid off.. followed by a series of incidents that made me want to pull my hair out.. Torres.. yes our beautiful Torres was like a punching bag.. fouled from behind, front, sideaways.. with NO protection from the bloody ref.. no, he was too busy sending babel off for being 'too in a players face'... literally.

The benfica crowd were disgusting to say the least.. throwing firecrackers on the pitch, targetted at players, uncivilised disgusting crowd.. ofcourse the ref had tee stop his favourite team from losing so then awarded two penalties which in turn won benfica the match.. I won't even try to vent my frustration at this ref and why the decisions were poor to say the least because i'd need around 5 pages and i dont want to bore you..

so moving swiftly along..

on easter sunday.. [HAPPY BELATED EASTER PPPEEEOPLEE :D ] we travelled to st andrews to what was supposed to be our 'clinching 4th spot' performance.. things went smoothly at first with a classic Gerrard strike.. but Ridgewell scored for the home side not long after..

which brings me to Benitez.. 60 minutes into the match.. such an IMPORTANT match.. 4th spot make it or break it match.. he takes off Torres! and no, he wasn't injured.. playing weakly.. or ANYTHING..

i swear the reactions on that video say only one thing = Rafa has lost any respect his players have for him.. hes' lost the dressing room as they saaaaay..

He's just protecting Torres for benfica.. well guess what Benitez.. we dont CARE about europa! everyone knows that! 4th spot is way more important! ARGH Rafas deffo lost the plot.. has for a while now..

so yh.. thats our week pretty much.. dissapointment/frustration sums it up..

Liverpool 3 - 0 Sunderland

Today i witnessed a different liverpool.. a liverpool i so very much missed.. last seasons liverpool.. the side teams feared.. Form was class today, high paced match with countless chances being made..

Torres got the ball rolling 3 minutes into the match by scoring one of best goals of the season, an aaamaaahaazingggg curled strike into the top corner from a tight angle in the box... just.. beauty..

Johnson then gave a left footed strike into the net @ minute 32.. Torres then missed a few very very easy chances but was forgiven by the kop just for being his awesome self.. he was NEXT level today and to prove it scored his second and last goal in the game at 60 minutes.. his 20th goal this season :D

If we play at this pace in the games to come, 4th spot looks more and more acheivable.. we're still depending on other teams to slip up.. but wowwweee.. liverpools form today.. refreshing to say the least.. keeeep iiit uuup ladss!!

Gutted

It was a match of much dissapointment.. it started of grande with a header from torres at 5th minute.. but all tumbled downhill from there.. a dodgy penalty was given uniteds way [Valencia is such a diving queen] which had Rooney score in a penalty which was beautifully saved at first but nets the rebound..

Second half was pretty dull, until a header by park dampened our spirits.. all was not lost until a mis-kick by torres sealed the deal and put us on our way to defeat.. can't blame the lad, it happens.. was just our final chance and we blew it..

so yeah.. playing sunderland next.. hopefully no beachballs this time...

i reckon we need to keep the faith.. but 4th spot doesnt look so close anymore..

Really hope Torres doesnt leave us..

so anyhow.. we beat lille.. yay.. playing benefico.. benitez says the draw can be tough and Aimar, Saviola n' Garcia are the players to look out for.. whoever wins plays either atletico madrid or valencia.. i'm thinking liverpool can win this one.. if only a win secured a champions league spot :( ..

we beat portsmouth 4-1 at our last match.. got to see aqualani play ! amazing player.. not bad for a lad deemed 'unfit' by mr. benitez.. next match.. wait for it..

Seems to be something a lot of people are enjoying chanting to me. Since our defeat at the hands of Wigan.. [1-0] everyone seems to be enjoying laughing at liverpools fall from grace.. but i mean we can only take it and move forward.. I've seen a lot of fans 'loyalty' start to waver, but thats just a disgrace, its not the liverpool way. Win or Lose, Shame or Glory, You'll Never Walk Alone.

It looks like Europa League again next year, which to be honest, is absolutely terrible however may give us a chance to focus on the premier league more, and win it for once? premier league IS the title our hearts are after..

Though, Benitez HAS to go, at this point theres no making excuses for him, just too many bad players and managing, so Benitez, thanks for 2005, but your time is up.

nope thats not why i havent been posting.. im as liverpoolified as ever.. just been swamped with coming back to uni.. havent been able to keep up with blogging bout each match etc.. so i think it'll be a random posting thing for a bit now.. not very ideal.. but neither is liverpool fc right now :P

then we went on to beat unirea 1-0 for the first leg of the europa league match.. the match was duller than watching paint dry. ..

however we picked up the pace ... but drew to man city on my birthday :(
at least they did me a favour and didnt lose i 'spose.. but still not good enough for fourth spot.. argh.

anyhoow.. to make up for dampening my birthday mood they went on to beat unirea 3-1 progressing in the europa league.. and then 2-1 against blackburn in the premier league [a match where we saw fernando torres play again :D :D ! ] ..

our next match is against wigan away.. will our 'little'.. winning streak stick?

Finally done with exams! Didn't get to enjoy taking my exam-free sigh of relief.. because before we know it second semester is upon us..

However leaving my med school woes aside.. LFC!

Obviously I can't fit all thats going on in one post so the gist of wagwan in the past period..

Reading 1 - 1 Liverpool FC

Not exactly the win we had hoped for - however i'd rather have a replay than a loss anyday..

Reading played magnificently well, with something to prove.. i admired the effort in them.. but not enough admiration to want them to win at anfeild.. we'll kill 'em there for sure..

It was nice seeing newbie Steven Darby get some first team action.. he was full of nerves at first but made some good interventions later on in the match and made the point that he belongs in that first team. Looking forward to seeing more from him..

Aquilani was a dissapointment in me opinion in this match.. the lack of confidence was evident on his face which wasn't all that reassuring.. he made a good effort in keeping the ball however i feel the pace of english football is a bit much for him.. however to be fair he hasn't had that much play time.. so has major chance for improvement if giving the chance to play..

Transfer rumours.. i tried not to get into them but i can't help it.. According to sky news Rafa is apparantly in talks with Atletico Madrid over Maxi Rodreguez? We need someone in midfield.. so could be a good move for Rafa to make..

Ruud Van Nistelrooy? Emile Heskey? Well sorry but i dont read The Sun neither should any of you.. anything out of that newspaper is a lie. So if i have any real information with substance I'll post it in here.

It finally snowed in Dublin!! :D !

Hasn't snowed here for years..

Start to the new year.. which means transfer season.. seeing the financial state of me beloved club is making me anxious.. usually i'd be excited round this time of year on the prospect of who we're getting.. but at the time being im more nervous about who we might lose.. no keano - like incidents please rafa :)

Fa cup action tommorow.. Reading Vs. Liverpool.. Hopefully own them with a 5-0 win.. ok i may be getting ahead of meself here.. but a win looks very likely..

on a more depressing note- Glen Johnson may be out for a month; he managed to tear the medial ligament of his right knee against villa, and seeing as Martin Kelly is also out.. Carra may have to play out of position once again..
